For many Americans, becoming a self-made millionaire is the ultimate fulfillment of the American ideal. While this may sound like a great plan in theory, there aren't many fields where someone with a good concept and a lot of hard work can become a millionaire. Compounding the issue is the fact that many of these positions call for a lengthy and expensive education.
I have a bachelor's degree, and, although I do not minimize the significance of education for the vast majority of people (especially my children, who already think they know everything), I did not need that degree. I could have begun doing what I do today just as easily with a GED. A dedicated, ambitious, and social person can make tens of thousands of dollars annually in the wholesale T-shirt business.
How? I got my start in the industry by selling T-shirts on the side to supplement what can only be described as a meager salary. A close friend of mine who now earns as much as I do suggested the strategy. Remember, at this time in my life, I was living from paycheck to paycheck, so all I needed was a tiny amount of money to start again.
I bought some business cards with this, and I also registered the name of my business. After that, I sat down and began making phone calls to nearby companies. Several of these organizations were my very first clients, and I still work with the vast majority of them now. Now that I had a solid clientele, I needed reliable vendors. I was in search of fabric manufacturers and distributors. Nothing about this was difficult.
They want to sell you their clothing since it is of such great quality. The next step was to hire a contract screen printer to carry out the printing. The long and short of it is that this is how I started my company.I had screen printing done on some t-shirts I purchased by a contract printer. Then, I offered it for sale to my clientele.
I started to see myself as connecting buyers and sellers, thereby increasing the value of the t-shirts, and as a result, I was able to earn more money than I ever would have imagined feasible even a few years ago. I had a low financial requirement since I waited to start production of the bespoke t-shirts until I got firm orders from my consumers. And if they wanted to use a credit card, that was fine, too, because I already had the cash on hand. The potential for gain was enormous, and the danger was minimal.
At some point, my business was successful enough that I could quit my day job as a trader and devote all of my time to it. As soon as I could afford one, I hired a secretary, and now I have more time to go out and get clients. I was able to earn enough from my firm to invest in its expansion without ever having to worry about money again. The best part about my method of personal development is that I never had to risk something I couldn't afford to lose.
Fifteen years after I first opened for business, I had finally amassed enough wealth to try expanding again. I've finally made the leap into screen printing on my own. In the past, I outsourced the printing of goods for my clients to a contract printer, but now I have my own screen printing equipment and a full-time crew to handle all of my printing needs. At the moment, I am launching more businesses to compete with the one I founded.
As a screen printer, I market these businesses to other ambitious people and help them get started. They go out and bring in their own clients, while I handle consulting and contract screen printing. For the new businesses, we created a website with a quote generator and price list function. Because of the specific relationship we have with these businesses, we are able to conduct screen printing at reduced rates. Companies can set their own shirt prices on our websites. In addition to bringing in new business for us, this partnership saves them the trouble of sourcing a printer and establishing a corporation and website.
Currently, I am at this point in my own enterprise. I hope I was able to demonstrate how my company has developed over time. I've made more than enough to retire in style, send my kids through college, and give generously to their causes.
My favorite part is that I really like what I do for a living. For the past decade, I have greeted each day knowing that I am my own boss. I control my own fate and have no one to answer to except myself. One of the best decisions I've made was entering this field. When you next wake up dreading coming to work or when your boss is being a jerk (or whatever four-letter word you like), consider all of this.
